Here at North Main Building & Design, not only do we care about the quality of what we build for our customers but also their maintenance after the project has concluded and the one year warranty has expired.  We want to give you all some helpful tips to maintain your home so it will last for many years to come.

• Do an inspection of your home on the interior and exterior twice a year so that you may get it prepared for the winter and summer months
• Clean out your gutters, remove all leaves and debris that may clog or render them useless.
• Maintenance on your A/C and heating systems is recommended at least once (1) a year.
• Check and change your air filters monthly.  It will help your unit run efficiently and keep your costs down.
• If you have a deck or any treated wood on the exterior of your home, make sure you clean then treat or seal that lumber yearly.
• Check the weather stripping around doors and windows as this will definitely keep your heating and a/c costs reasonable in comparison to their usage.
• If there are cracks in the exterior trim or siding, properly caulk and paint.
• For your water heater, flush every 2 years to reduce sediment build up in the bottom of the tank, thus reducing the efficiency of the unit.
• Visually inspect your roof for any shingles that may have popped up or are missing after a storm.
• Inspect crawl space to ensure the vapor barrier (plastic that covers the ground, 6 mil. thick) and insulation is still properly installed.
• Most importantly, make sure you register any and all appliances with the manufacturer to ensure that if there are any recalls you will know.
