Our latest new home buyers, Sarah & Daniel Thompson, have the most adorable new home and have ventured to use some of the most beautiful and timeless interior trends.  It’s easy to jump on a trend but smart people take these trends and make them timeless to get maximum longevity for their homes.

In the kitchen they’ve chosen to go with black granite countertops, which is very smart because it hides dirt so well and it is a very dramatic statement for your kitchen and gives you that pop of glam.  To give your home that warm and comforting feeling, using dark walnut hardwood all over is a nice way to go.  hardwood floors are wonderful because they’re easy to clean, last quite a while (with proper maintenance and care), and have a nice way of anchoring and bringing your color scheme together to be a complete look.  Another way they have brought drama into their kitchen and keeping things bright and airy is by having white shaker style cabinets and they’ve kept that modern look by using brushed nickel hardware along with stainless appliances.

In the bedrooms they’ve kept that modern trend going with their carpet choice – grey frieze with black flecks.  It’s a carpet that offers longevity while maintaining lots of personality.  How they’ve kept that cozy theme going is with the trim.  Alabaster white is a great way to not only brighten by anchor a room with a traditional element.  We’re so used to white trims and that’s a wonderful thing but getting creative with your white tones can really be a way for you to add in some of yourself.  Sarah & Daniel chose to go with grey walls, how lovely and refreshing.  The thing about grey is that it makes for a real statement neutral.  You can go light and airy with it or you go quite dramatic and no matter what tone you chose in the range it is going to be a universal palette to make your accent colors really pop.

Now lets talk exteriors, yellow homes are happy homes.  By using grey siding its going to make whatever landscaping they have pop and be the envy of every pedestrian and that yellow door is just such a delight that anyone walking into their home won’t be able to resist walking in with a smile and that is what you ultimately want is for people to smile at your home.
